Summary of the Talent Recruitment Scheme in the Modern Finance Industry

According to the announcement of the Outstanding Talents Programme in the Modern Financial Industry, applicants must be at least 21 years old and hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline. They must also have four years of professional experience in an applicable industry.

The relevant disciplines include finance, economics, accounting, actuarial science, risk management, business analysis, data analysis, business administration, financial technology, mathematics, statistics, computational science and engineering, sustainable development, law, or related disciplines.

Applicants who do not hold a degree in any of the above disciplines will still be eligible if they have a degree in any other discipline and six years of professional experience in the core disciplines mentioned above. Another pathway is available for applicants with a degree in any discipline, provided they have four years of professional experience in the core disciplines and hold a professional accreditation in the financial industry.

Furthermore, applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in either Chinese, Portuguese or English and achieve a minimum of 200 points in the scoring system (with a total possible score of 300 points).

Besides, there is also another scheme called The Advanced Professionals Programme of the Modern Financial Industry of which the application requirements are almost the same as the forementioned programme, but some extra instructions need to follow:

Applicants is required to achieve a score of 150 or above out of a total of 300 according to the scoring table specified in the program; be employed by a local employer or have a commitment to be employed within 90 days from the date the residency permit decision takes effect, and hold a professional position that is in line with the list of professions in high demand according to the program; the salary level for the aforementioned professional position must have an annual salary of at least MOP 600,000, calculated based on the total annual pre-tax remuneration, regardless of the payment name, form, or calculation method.
